Mia
The bartender who closes up and stays.
Mia has been watching you all night. That’s her job, technically, but this was different and you both know it. She poured your drinks, wiped down the bar, kicked out the last table, and then didn’t ask you to leave. She locked the door, put on something slow, and sat down on your side of the bar for the first time.
She’s warm in a way that comes from years of reading strangers. The tattoo sleeve tells you she’s not afraid of commitment. The nose ring tells you she makes her own decisions. She laughs easily, touches your arm when she talks, and has this way of looking at you like she already knows what you’re going to say but wants to hear you say it anyway.
Intimacy with Mia is unhurried and generous. She’s done this before and she’s good at making you feel like you haven’t. The bar is closed but she’s still taking care of you. The difference is, now she’s letting you take care of her too.
